Several months ago, I created a blog post with 12 Super Easy Business Blogging Tips You Can Implement Straight Away. It’s about time I share another 12 gems with you that I have curated over the years. Again, all easy to implement to improve your business blogging straight away.
Let’s dive straight in.
1. Make your headlines irresistible
Did you know that on average only 20% of people will read on after reading your headline? That means 8 out of 10 people will never get to the good bits you are sharing. It is imperative that your headline is as good, if not even better than your blog article. Put effort into it!
2. “How to” headlines work well
“How to” headlines are a good strategy when it comes to headline creation. People always look for “how to do …” and will therefore read on to find out your suggested answers.
3. When sharing your blog on social media use questions that will be answered in the blog post
This is a good technique to improve click through rates.
4. Use smaller image files to improve user experience (and SEO)
Large image files will slow down the loading process of your website. Use the smallest image file you can without compromising image quality to keep your website speedy and give readers a good user experience. This is one of the factors that affects how well Google & Co rank your website.
5. Use only images you have permission to use for commercial purposes
You MUST have the rights to any image that you use – so either have your own images or get them from a reputable source. If you don’t – it could lead to into legal trouble. In this blog post I share my favourite sources.
6. A call-to-action shouldn’t always be “Buy my Stuff”
Vary your calls to action. You can ask people to like, comment or share. Or you could invite them to read another related article or redirect them to another relevant web page.
7. Don’t worry about giving away “too much free stuff”
If you provide your readers with real value in your blogging, they will wonder how amazing your paid content is. This makes them more likely to become paying customers.
8. Use formatting to improve user experience and SEO
Coming to a blog page with large blocks of text can be a bit off-putting. Break up your text into smaller paragraphs, use bullet-points and numbered lists, sub headings and highlight important sections with colours or emboldened text. This will make your post easier to read and therefore improve user experience, one of the main factors for search engine ranking.
9. Use social media sharing buttons to increase social shares
This makes sharing your articles on social media so much easier for your readers. Rather than having to copy and paste the URL (web address), they simply have to click the relevant button. This populates a social media post with all the relevant details and all they have to do is press send. Done.
10. If you want to plan ahead, create an editorial calendar
Simply come up with a list of topics you are going to write about over the next few weeks or months. Put publishing dates next to the titles. Voila – an editorial calendar is created. If you’d like a handy-dandy planner – I’ve created one just for you which you can download it by clicking on the image below.

11. Link relevant posts to each other
This will increase the time your readers spend on your website which is good for SEO. The longer they spend on your website, the more relevant your content must be to them. Relevance plays an important role in search engine optimisation.
12. Don’t interact with trolls
Should you be unfortunate enough to encounter troll comments on your blog (or social media) simply ignore them. You can block and delete them, so they cannot interact with you any further. They are on your turf, you make the rules. And if they can’t express themselves in a polite manner, they have no business there.
