Content Creation using the news

This year keeps throwing out news headlines like no other. It has been a very eventful year and with all this news comes a lot of opportunity for content creation. Not just for newspapers and other online news providers but also for business owners who blog.

With a little bit of creativity, it shouldn’t be too difficult to find an angle you can take on news stories to relate to your business. Whether it’s celebrity gossip, world politics or updates about the budget, almost any news story can be retold with a business angle, and ideally related to your industry.

Which type of news and stories that work for your particular industry will vary, but keep your eyes and ears open. It’s a good idea to keep a running list of ideas, so you can add to it whenever you come across another story that works with what you do.

Your resources could be newspapers, magazines, social media, TV, etc. Pretty much any source that provides news can become a supply for blog inspiration.

Different ways to use news stories for your content creation

  • How the news item impacts your industry or your clients’ industries.
  • How your business can help prevent what happened in the story.
  • How your business can help with the effects of the event.
  • How your business can help you deal with the event.

You get the idea. Remember though, it’s not about selling your services. Be informative and useful, perhaps give tips and advice. Be helpful. Your blog is not the place to sell your products and services. That’s what your sales pages are for. The purpose of your blog is to provide additional information that is useful for your potential customers.

By using the news for your content creation, you can be part of conversations that happen now.
