One key element of a successful blog post is an engaging blog graphic. Blog graphics are images attached to a blog post. They usually sit at the top of the blog post and give the reader a visual reminder what the blog post is about. But they do so much more.
The blog graphic is also responsible for how much traffic you get from social media. This is because, social media platforms show images in addition to the headline and intro text. This means the blog graphic can make or break your click through rate.
You could simply add a pretty picture (make sure you have permission to use it!) and be done with it. But you can make blog graphics a lot more impactful by adding text overlay to the image. This makes the image a lot more sharable, especially on image based social media platforms such as Pinterest or Instagram.
I have created a video showing you how to create such a blog image using Canva, an online image creation tool I use on a daily basis. The basic free version allows to create stunning blog graphics, as it lets you import your own images. There are paid for images in Canva’s library which are $1 per image.
Where to find images for your blog graphics
If you need suitable images, why not try Pixabay? Pixabay is a website where you can find royalty free images completely free of charge. You can use these images for commercial purposes and you can alter and edit them. Pixabay is a great resource and it works through members who contribute their images to the site. Pixabay’s image criteria are quite strict, so you will only find images of very good quality on their website.
