How to use blogging to raise finance for your business

In previous blog posts I have talked a lot about blogging as a marketing tool. And no doubt, that’s its main purpose. But did you know that blogging can also help you to get business finance?

Whether you are looking for grants, investment or loans, financial decision makers will always check out your company before they sign on the dotted line to part with any money for your business. You can use this to your advantage by writing compelling blog articles that make the business case why your company is a good one to invest in.

Blogging ideas to secure business finance

If you’re intending to apply for finance in any shape or form, start thinking about how you can best present your company. Blog about

  • new hires to grow the business,
  • big projects you are intending to take on, and
  • generally present your company as a business who is going places.

Explaining what you do as a business can help you to secure finance. You need to be able to persuade potential investors and helping them to understand your business better can support this.

Think about Dragon’s Den. Businesses successfully pitching for investment explain their story, how they got to where they are now and have a rock solid case how they will invest the secured funds. They provide insights into their business, what drives them and share the passion they have in their product or service. And you can do all this in your blog posts.

Over to you

If you’re intending to apply for funding or any other kind of business finance, start brain storming some blogging ideas. You want the posts to be published before you apply so that potential investors can check you out and will find articles supporting your case.

This is only one of the many strategies I teach when working with my blogging clients.
