If you want to find out what your customers really want to know more about, the best way is to ask them. Now this doesn’t have to mean endless conversations with dozens or even hundreds of people. This could become very time consuming. There is a better way. Create a mini survey and email it out to them and you will never run out of ideas what to blog about.
This sounds a lot more difficult than it actually is. All you do, is ask this question: “If you could ask me one (or two) question about [insert your topic] what would it be?”
You can create this in a marvellous online tool called SurveyMonkey. It’s a free tool if you use it for basic surveys such as this. It collates up to 100 replies for you in the free version. And this number should really give you enough ideas to be getting on with.
As it is online, you can also send people to your survey through Social Media. Another option is to put a link to it on your website so anyone interested can join in and give you their questions.
I created a very similar survey several months ago and I still use the results in my blogging. You will be amazed what types of questions come up. There will be questions you would probably have never thought that people don’t know the answers to. As you’re an expert in your field, all the basics seem so logical to you, but to the rest of us it is all new information. And it gives you lots of ideas what to blog about.
Not all questions will be answerable in a blog post, but most will give you an amazing wealth of material to fill your blog with interesting posts. And you know that people are interested in these topics because they told you so.
Over to you
